ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition 12GB GDDR6X Gaming Graphics Card
The ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition 12GB GDDR6X Gaming Graphics Card features NVIDIA Ampere Streaming Multiprocessors. The all-new Ampere SM brings 2X the FP32 throughput and improved power efficiency. It comes with 2nd Generation RT Cores and 3rd Generation Tensor Cores. it supports up to Boost clock 1845 MHz (OC mode)/ 1815 MHz (Gaming Mode). It has a full-coverage cold plate that brings liquid cooling to GPU die and memory. On-board cooling for power delivery is handled by a blower-style fan and low-profile heatsink. A 240mm radiator balances compatibility and performance and 560mm tubing for compatibility with EATX chassis and alternative mounts. Top-shelf capacitors, chokes, and MOSFETs are selected to effortlessly deliver hundreds of watts at a millisecond’s notice.
The Super Alloy Power II parts are soldered to the PCB using our advanced Auto-Extreme automated manufacturing process. The rear of the card sports two PWM FanConnect headers that provide additional DIY flexibility. Chassis fans can be directly attached to the card and tuned with a curve that is based on CPU and GPU temperatures, providing extra intake or exhaust for demanding 3D tasks. The mind-blowing performance of the NVIDIA Ampere architecture just got cooler.
The ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 Ti channels the power of liquid cooling to unlock the GPU’s full potential and then some, delivering an ultra-quiet thermal performance that blows air-cooled designs out of the water. It features a custom-designed cold plate that extends over the GPU die and the onboard GDDR6X memory, bringing the full benefits of liquid-cooling to the components most responsible for raw performance. The 240mm radiator is cooled by two powerful 120mm ARGB fans that are optimized for high CFMs and static pressure. The ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition comes with 2 years of warranty.
ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition 12GB GDDR6X Gaming Review
The custom graphics card is still one of the fastest GPUs on the planet, something that would be the centerpiece of any gaming PC. This time around I’ve got the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor (12 cores, 24 threads) as well as some new games being benchmarked: Cyberpunk 2077 and Forza Horizon 5.
As for the graphics card itself, the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition is just so damn good. Not only did I test it out in my GPU test bed with the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor, but I put the card into my Allied Gaming M.O.A.B. gaming PC which rocks Intel’s latest flagship Core i9-12900K processor and Z690 chipset.
For the purposes of this review I also tested out the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition in the Allied M.O.A.B. gaming PC onto my 77-inch 4K 120Hz OLED gaming TV that I purchased from LG. HDMI 2.1 connectivity on the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition is actually better than most, if not all, RTX 3080 Ti cards. Why? Because ASUS gives its has not just one but two HDMI 2.1 ports on the back. There’s still 3 x DP 1.4 connectors but the 2 x HDMI 2.1 connectors allow for 4K 120Hz TVs and gaming monitors to be plugged into the card… not just one.
Right now I’m driving the new ASUS ROG Strix XG43UQ which is a 43-inch 4K 144Hz gaming monitor, which is plugged into HDMI 2.1 on the ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. Next to that I have the ASUS ROG Strix XG438Q, the previous-gen model of this monitor — still 4K and 144Hz but it’s over DisplayPort 1.4.
Back to the ASUS ROG Strix RTX OC Edition, which adding to its huge 2.9-slot design and triple-fan cooler we have an RGB strip along the top of the card that really adds to the overall feel of the card. I’ve loved it on other custom ROG Strix graphics cards, and it’s right at home here on the ROG Strix RTX 3080 Ti.
